“The Social Partnership Forum (SPF) supports the recommendations set out in the final report on health and well-being in the NHS by Dr Steve Boorman and the Department of Health’s proposed action plan.
The SPF welcomes the commitment to improve the health and well-being of NHS staff as enshrined in the NHS Constitution and urges all NHS organisations to work in partnership to tackle the causes of ill health amongst their staff and to develop innovative solutions that will ultimately lead to improved patient care.
The SPF is considering how social partnership can help to take forward the recommendations in a positive and effective way."
Adding her comments, Karen Jennings, Chair of the SPF Staff Side said:
“It makes sound economic sense to look after the health and well-being of staff. Trusts will deliver better patient care if they draw up detailed action plans to protect their staff. We are keen to ensure that local trade union representatives are able to offer their expertise in realising the benefits of this important area of work for the NHS, particularly in implementing the recommendations on training for managers and the development of a new approach towards mental ill health issues.”
