NHS North West
Entered into an arrangement with PULSE, the master vendor agency supplier in the north west to expand their contracts to incorporate Band 5 allied health professionals. This is being continually evaluated to assess its effectiveness.
NHS East of England
Introduced a physiotherapist employment initiative scheme and the NHS East of England Compact which assists in the employment of newly qualified health practitioners whose pre-registration was funded by the strategic health authority.
NHS Yorkshire and the Humber
The SHA’s allied health professionals lead is a member of the Skills for Care new type of worker advisory group which is focussing on innovative work redesign into social care.
NHS West Midlands
Actively held events and is holding another in October 2009 which involved their local trusts and one of the key themes given the current financial uncertainty will be how newly qualified health practitioners can contribute quality, innovation, productivity, partnership and prevention in terms of reducing the spend through agency fees, primarily be setting up local banks across a number of trusts at a local level. Funding is continuing to be made available to support the training and development of the newly qualified health practitioners which will help provide a more up-skilled workforce.
