Strengthening partnership to deliver current and future priorities

The Social Partnership Forum believes that partnership working is key to delivering priorities across the NHS, but partners will need to adapt to maintain partnerships through challenging times.  We believe this can and should be done.

Partnerships regionally and locally will need to keep pace with the new NHS architecture in order to continue to deliver high quality care in high quality workplaces.  The partnership working pages of our website contain information and resources on how to establish effective partnerships, how partnership is operating locally and regionally and how we need to develop future models by building new relationships and strengthening forums now.

Our embedding partnership working group seeks to promote the benefits of social partnership working to stimulate the debate, raise awareness and provides practical support and guidance to the NHS.

The NHS Staff Council document 'Improving Working Lives in the NHS'  is an excellent example of partnership working, both in its development and in the practice promoted in the document itself. The framework is designed to maintain the principles of the original Improving Working Lives standard and enable organisations to develop good HR practice in partnership at a local level.

Practical support has been provided in the form of sponsorship of awards for partnership working.  The Partnership Fund award scheme was established to help to promote partnership working and since 2008 the SPF has sponsored the Partnership Working Award which makes up the wider Healthcare People Management Association awards.
