How we work

The Social Partnership Forum is a partnership between NHS Trade Unions, DH and NHS Employers.  The Forum also has members representing other key stakeholders.

The wider Social Partnership Forum members are:

The full SPF meet every fourth month with a smaller steering group meeting in the other three months.

Each of the three partners are responsible for nominating their representatives for the SPF steering group. Membership is:

  • five Department of Health representatives
  • five employer representatives
  • eight Trade Union representatives.

The steering group is accountable to the wider Social Partnership Forum.

Items are placed on the agenda by any of the parties. Secretariat  arrangements are provided by the Department of Health who liaise with corresponding representatives from Trade Unions and NHS Employers.

Monthly meetings are held and each partner also has their own chair.  We share the key messages from our monthly meetings through our meetings and events page.
